Pajama Sam

Okay, so, I know, I have been drawing a lot of magical girl art lately, as I've explained a million times, and I thought I'd go back to Humongous Entertainment for a while. And I thought that I'd give it a go at trying to draw some of the other Humongous characters besides SpyFox, though he's my fav. So, I thought I'd try drawing Pajama Sam, and, well, here it is. First, I wanna go over my history for the Pajama Sam series, and then talk about the drawing process. So, prepare yourselves for some big-ass, nostalgic paragraphs.

Pajama Sam was one of my earliest favourite PC games as a child. In 2001 for Christmas, My little sister got three HE games; she got Putt Putt Saves the Zoo, Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds, and Pajama Sam in No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside. I loved the game so much as a kid. Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't So Frightening, I never played, not even the demo, so, I kind of never cared for it so much. Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat From Your Head To Your Feet I sort of wanted as a kid, I had the demo to it too. And the "4th" game, Pajama Sam in Life is Rough When You Lose Your Stuff, I'm not even gonna talk about because it was a piece of crap. The other games, the arcades, never really cared much about. Something I liked about the games was the theme about facing your fears and dislikes. The first game is about facing the fear of the dark and the second game is about facing the fear of thunder and lightning. The third game is about facing the dislike of vegetables and the "4th" game is about facing the dislike of cleaning you room. I also would pick Pajama Sam over any other Superhero; Super Man, Batman. F*ck them. I like how Pajama Sam, a young superhero, faces his fears and dislikes rather than some cliche plot like, oh, stopping a bank robbery or putting bad guys away in jail. Lame. I also liked the surreal atmosphere in the games, especially the first game, with all the wacky locations, from Darkness' house to the Mines. I also loved the music, from the Land of Darkness to the Mines to Darkness' house.

All right, now onto the drawing process. This was a lot of fun to do. I did a few early sketches first on refill paper before finally getting the good copy into my book. it was also very hard because I've never drawn Pajama Sam before. Well, maybe as a kid but they'd probably look like crap now. One hard part was getting the skin colour right, because Pajama Sam is a light turquoise. Pajama Sam, why you no normal skin colour? Ahhh, it'd look weird. So, I lightly used green and blue together a few times on refill and at the back of my book, and then finally got it down. Sometimes I made it a bit darker than light. I also used both blue and dark blue for the pajamas rather than just straight out use dark blue. I would have gotten this picture up yesterday, but the sky was being a b*tch, and there were clouds. And my camera was going flat and eventually it died. But today, it was a nice clear sunny day with a blue sky. So, overall, I'm really happy with this picture and I'm happy that I decided to attempt drawing a different HE character than SpyFox.

EDIT: Also, I have posted a Pajama Sam picture before, but it was one of those motivationals that has like over 52 favs. Also, I decided to draw this in a portrait rather than a landscape because it was too hard in landscape.
